SNATCH10 Minutes to snatch a single10 Minutes to snatch a double10 Minutes to snatch a triple Some time will be allotted to warm up. Following that, each of these segments will be performed back to back with no rest between.
It's great to be back, so glad to get more work on the snatch. Ben's recommendation to raise my hips in the setup made me feel much stronger at the start of the lift. Now to keep the bar pulled into my hips and chest back near the top of the pull (especially when fatigued). I'm going to get these. It's gonna happen.
Great to work with Adam W, fun to see Janey and Kristen back at 6am!
You got this buddy! You did great today
Came in for open gym due to an alarm mishap this morning.
25/35/40, which says to me that I should have warmed up more. Did get several snatches at 45#, which I think is the most I've been able to snatch (not power snatch). I really need & love the extra Oly practice lately!
Happy Snatch Day!
I have to say, snatches and overhead squats are the moves in which I have the least confidence - but today the snatch movements FINALLY made sense. It was great to work with CLee, he gave good tips. Coach B also gave me some technique things to work on. All in all, a good day on the bar (bruised thumb from hook grip included!). Single - 115#; double 105#; Triple 100# (first time consistently in the triple digits!).
Worked with Long on post class workout (I did 3, he did 5 rounds not for time): 10 HSPUs, 20 sit ups, 40 DUs and 10 back squats @ 135#. Fun times!
Happy snatch day, indeed! Been liking the extra practice on these, felt good about tackling them this morning with Long.
135/125/115 for single/double/triple, which is right on track. Wish I could have stuck around for bonus stuff - stupid job. :(
135lb -- nice!
Thanks so much, Coach B for hooking me up with a plan to work me into a snatch. Seriously weak on my overhead squat - so, super excited to work on what you showed me today. You ROCK!!!!
this was my first attempt at these with weight and it was refreshing to try something new, not get it and then get it (kinda).
Practiced snatches for the first time tonight with the technique bar. Felt pretty good with the form by the end of class. Thanks for the help, Sylvia and Jaffney! Two words: knees out. :)
It's probably going to be my knuckle tattoo.
As long as you don't punch me with your new tats every time I need to put my knees out. ;)
It's been a long time since I have tackled snatches, aka my arch-nemesis, with any weight. I was really excited to get a handful of them really solidly! I realized that I always ended the movement too early before I have actually done the full overhead squat. live and learn.
Got to work with Jackie who did a really nice job!
Left the gym a bit discouraged today. Wanted to make a certain lift today and didn't. More so, just didn't feel good at all. Gonna write it off as just a random bad day and hope it is random that it coincided with work starting again.
105#, 95#, 95# - Don't feel like I have the right "movie" playing in my head for what a snatch should look like. PC's and Squats, I think I have. Snatches, nope.
Don't get discouraged -- the snatch is genuinely difficult. Not that I'm a great example for oly lifting and snatches in particular (my role in life seems to be teaching patience to the coaches), but just for perspective I've been working on it on and off for a couple years now and your numbers are basically the same as mine.
I think 55# was actually the heaviest I've ever really squat snatched before today, so pleased to get a few reps at 68#. begone, power snatch + OHS!
felt solid about this. I think 50# is my highest ever so it was nice to go a bit higher. Always been a bit uneasy with the snatch, well, I'm comfortable with the movement up to a certain amount of weight and then I get freaked out and think that I'm going to drop the barbell on my head
Singles to 83#, plus an 88# power snatch - I'm sure I can get this weight, but ran out of time on the singles.
Doubles and Triples to 73#
45#, 35#, 35#: Will go higher on the singles next time- I liked having time to get comfortable with the form as this was the firat tome i added the squat to the snatch!
Thanks to Stephen, Hannah, Wes, and Kevin for being awesome (and being supportive). I'll be hanging out in a squat while the kids are working tomorrow!
Great work last night kelly! Your snatches look better and better all the time! The starfish snatch is on its way out, i know it
So full disclosure. I wasn't really thrilled going into tonights workout. I always struggled with the snatch movement, but I commited to myself today that I would not WOD dodge, as I was really looking forward to get back in the gym after spending the last week moving. Fun times!
95#,95#,95# odd yes, however through repitition I started to feel more comfortable with the motion. Weight never felt really heavy, just struggled a bit connecting all the dots, but toward the end it became more fluid.
Post WOD self sees this as probably the most satisfying workout I've had in a very long time.
Note: I also have to give credit to Coach Nick. Watching him in the 5:30 class definitely helped to mentally prepare me.
uh oh. Did raph get bit by the snatch bug? Certainly sounds like it
Snatches - 70#/65#/70# (i think - for some reason, i was really horrible today with keeping track of my numbers) - weird, but like Raphael said, I think I got more comfortable with the weight in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Made one measly attempt at 75# right at the buzzer but the "fear" took over and couldn't drop under it.
I am really starting to like the Snatch. I think it's one of the harder movements for me to grasp - dropping under the weight while holding it over my head, but I feel like it's starting to click a littler more each time.
Finally felt like I got it in the triples.
not 100% sure on the numbers but i think it went like this
115 / 105 / 95 -- 1 x 2 x 3
felt really smooth, great working w/ Eli as always!
