BACK SQUAT1rmif < 1 yr., 3rmif < 6 mo., 5rm
3RM: 120#. I am pretty happy with this for various reasons.
Leaving today for San Francisco / Santa Cruz! Will check out the local boxes and report back.
BS: 230 (+10)I feel good about that.
It was AWESOME watching everyone kill it in there today!
BS: 1@300lb (PR +5). Worked with Hannah. My goal now is for my squats to look more like hers! She's got terrific form. It was good to meet some new people today. Lots of PRs today, must have been because of the Michael Jackson blaring in the background. I voted for the Clash. Shows what I know. Coach knows best.
clash marathon next thursday, for science!
Pr'd at 160#, which was awesome. I did not get as low as I normally can get with the squats (a weird fear set in). So this is a partial win.
Going to take Coach's advice and come up with a back squat negative program to start at the end of Septmeber and try to get over this mental hurdle.
So much fun to share a bar and work with Chris and watch him work up to 300! Thanks for keeping me motivated, Chris!
Felt a kind of flat this morning, was aiming for 215# (would've been a 10# PR) but managed 210# (5# PR). Attempted 215# twice and got stuck in the bottom both times. Probably could've hung out in the bottom of the squat with 215 on my back for a while but that's not the point of squatting now is it? :)
Looking forward to doing damage to my front squat PR next week.
125# ... but lower than I did a couple of weeks ago.... like LaLa I quickly lose confidence getting lower as the weights go up so Coach B gave us some good things to work on...
Congrats on the PRs all around ... Kind of thought the rack might tip over at one point with all the weight on one side ...
Michael Jackson was a good call by Nick; looking forward to some Clash/Joe Strummer next week...
Squats! Great way to start the day with what - 18 people at 6 am? And like coach predicted, it was raining PRs. It was great to see people dig in and really crush some serious weights today (esp with Chris becoming a new member of the 300 club)! Kudos all around.
Got up to 285# this morning, which was a 20# PR, and my "end of cycle" goal from the white board up front. Happy with the morning (esp the MJ motiviation). I've got my eyes on you, 300...
20lb PR!!! Way to go.
Protein and squats - all the time ...
After this morning, I'm eagerly anticipating seeing what you can do when the Clash is loaded up. Your 300 looked easy!
Congrats 6am'ers! Everyone's attention to squatting well and squatting consistently is paying off. And of course the support you guys give each other helps a lot. Looking forward to seeing what the PM crew brings!
160# (PR), tried 165 and failed (like Hannah said above the weight felt fine, could have sat down there with it, it was that whole standing up part that was tough). Would like to be able to get faster on the up.
Happy with this, even though i still need to talk to my right knee on the way up to keep it from collapsing inward
Congrats to my fellow 6amers! This morning was quite inspiring - lots of grunting and cheering (and I'm sure swearing!)!
Proud of all the PRs - Britt blew through his with like 25 minutes left! Ethan was cranking out the sets of 5s as well...
It was a fun morning - save the knee pain that prevented me from participating. Making the mature move, after pain at 95#, I backed off...though I REALLY didn't want to. Alas, there's always next time...
Congrats to everyone again...and pmers, the bar has been set, let's see what ya got!
Didnt't know if I'd be doing 1's, 3's, or 5's today because I've been ironing out some tech with squats this year. Made it a bit tough to prep for a specific weight. Got there early to find out what coach wanted...5's it is.
Got up to 205#x5. Was looking for 200+ so I'm very pleased. Felt easier than expected. Planned on attempting 215# but I think my focus stumbled after I made the 200 goal. Ended on a light set of 5 so I didn't leave with the bar getting the last word.
So bummed I'm missing this! Stuck working from home today, and extra late at that! Might try to hit up open gym tomorrow to try to get this done. I need to pass my 180# from waaaay earlier this year! Can't wait to read what my 5:30 crew does!
Folks, keep in mind we're testing 1/3/5rms on Saturday as well in case people missed today.
If people tested today and want to come Saturday, you'll be able to take the class and then just put in some practice on other barbell moves.
New 1RM 235#. Dumped it once then retried and got it. 20# more than last 1RM from October of last year.
Thanks Amy for the great support and help with the math.
Got to 148# which is... well, it's A LOT for me so I am happy :) Tried 153# but no dice. My goal was 140# (I got 133# last week) so I surpassed it by a bunch and it felt very very good.
Used the big kid plates (35#) and officially part of the more-than-body-weight backsquat club! Yipee!
1 RM - 175# (+10# PR)
Tried 185 but got nervous and bailed. Slow progress is still progress!
Awesome night at the 5:30...congrats to everyone who hit a PR! It was a super-motivating environment.
Which is one of the reasons I blew past my goal of 320! Hit 325 and then 335. Last one felt reeeeally heavy, but I am super pumped to have beaten my (already aggressive) goal of 320. That's up 40 pounds from my previous 1RM of 295.
Thanks to the coaches for great, uh...coaching. And thanks to everyone there for the cheering and support. Setting my sights on 350 next.
Entered 7:30 with a mixture of awe and intimidation after watching 6:30 completely kick ass! 7:30 group rode the same wave and continued what seems to be a pretty awesome day for H2O!
I finally internalized "Spread the floor with your feet." Thanks Stephen!!! 3RM 118# felt really good- kindof curious what will happen week 2 of "eating enough protein challenge 2013"...
5rm: 83# (not a PR but got to 4 reps w/ 88#).
That's a 10# jump over two weeks ago and 15# over the course of this cycle. The lift sure was ugly, but it was deep enough.
300# today felt better than it did a couple weeks ago as well.
Back Squat: 365lbs (375 fail, 365, 335, 315, 275, 225x3, 135x6) - Thanks to the whole 630 crew, Jeff, Nam and Stephen.
